NTPC Korba Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Patriotic Zeal and Notable Achievements

KORBA, 16 AUGUST 2025, NTPC Korba commemorated the 79th Independence Day with exceptional enthusiasm, patriotic fervour, and a deep sense of national pride. This year’s celebrations were themed around “Naya Bharat”, echoing the nation’s collective journey towards realizing the government’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The festivities commenced with a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Shri Rajeev Khanna, Executive Director, NTPC Korba, who was received by Shri Shashi Shekhar, Head of HR, and Shri Rajeev Kulhari, Commandant, CISF, in the august presence of Shri Bibhas Ghatak, CGM (O&M), Shri Satrughana Behera, GM (Maint. & ADM), and Dr. Vinod Kolhtakar, CMO, NTPC Korba Hospital. The Guest of Honour, Smt. Roli Khanna, President, Maitri Mahila Samiti, was also greeted with grace and dignity.
The celebrations began with Shri Rajeev Khanna hoisting the National Flag, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem and a ceremonial salute by CISF personnel. The Chief Guest then inspected the parade ground, setting the tone for the day’s solemn proceedings.
Address by the Chief Guest
In his inspiring address, Shri Khanna paid heartfelt tributes to the nation’s valiant freedom fighters, recalling their sacrifices and unwavering spirit. He extended Independence Day greetings to employees, families, and the wider NTPC community while sharing the remarkable milestones achieved by NTPC Korba.
He proudly highlighted that the station secured the No. 1 position in Yearly PLF for the fifth consecutive year, achieving an impressive 90.76% PLF in FY 2024–25. As of July 2025, NTPC Korba stood third among all NTPC stations with a PLF of 84.98%, while also ranking third in Forced Outage performance with an exceptionally low FO of 1.17%.
A Year of Milestones and Progress
This year, NTPC Korba made significant strides across operations, sustainability, infrastructure, safety, and community initiatives:
– Operational Excellence: Achieved a historic 105.19% ash utilization, conducted its 500th ORT, and enhanced efficiency through automation and modernization.
– Sustainability Efforts: Commissioned rooftop solar projects, strengthened water conservation and rainwater harvesting initiatives, and expanded plantation drives.
– Infrastructure & Healthcare: Upgraded service facilities, modernized NTPC Hospital with new diagnostic services and a digital healthcare platform, and expanded rehabilitation support for Divyangjan.
– Safety & Security: Introduced advanced control rooms, hygiene surveys, and installed 114 smart CCTVs across facilities.
– Project Development: Surpassed CAPEX targets in the FGD project, completing key structural and equipment milestones.
– People Development: Conducted extensive training programs, mentorship drives, apprenticeships, and disaster management drills, while also excelling in sporting competitions.
– CSR Initiatives: Strengthened community support through education, healthcare, water supply, and skill development programs, empowering thousands in surrounding villages.
Colourful Celebrations
Following the address, Shri Rajeev Khanna, along with senior officials and Smt. Roli Khanna, released balloons into the sky, symbolizing freedom and celebration. The occasion also recognized employees’ contributions through “Meritorious” awards and distinctions.
The cultural segment featured patriotic dances and songs performed by students of Delhi Public School, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 02, Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Government High Schools, Bal Bhawan, and Tiny Cottage. A spectacular tricolour pressure jet spray demonstration by the CISF captivated the audience, adding grandeur to the festivities.
A Grand Conclusion
The celebrations also witnessed a spirited tug of war competition, showcasing the enthusiasm, team spirit, and camaraderie of employees and CISF personnel. The event concluded with a visit to the Independence Day selfie point, capturing the spirit of national pride and NTPC Korba’s operational successes. The day not only honoured the legacy of India’s independence but also reaffirmed NTPC Korba’s commitment to excellence, sustainability, and community empowerment.
